One change... we usually work with sgml files instead of html. Appended is gzip+uuencoded patch to your program so it generates sgml files. That way its easier to integrate with our current framework, and things like the headers and footers are handled automatically, and the pages get validated. There are also some minor fixes (for example, the link to the Gallery cgi was broken, and added -v option.) I've committed a new set of gallery sgml files using using your program and your new data.tgz. You can easily update the files from now on. =-) Thanks again, -Ade ps. I agree that most of these groups have pretty weird standards (and I like the "Bottom of the web" award people, since they at least acknowledge this fairly and squarely :-). I've even been sent mail telling me that my home page won some "Edmund G. Yeah, right! :-) I think it's just picked at random, like the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes ("Dear Mr/Mrs Occupant, you may already be a winner!") and we should just ignore this stuff unless it comes from some organization we've actually heard of, like WebPoint or the Klu Klux Klan ("And in acknowledgement of all you've done for the cause of white supremacy, we'd like to nominate your ...") :-) Jordan > On Mon, 20 Jan 1997, NetGuide wrote: > > > Congratulations! FreeBSD only supports Intel platforms at the momement. NetBSD and OpenBSD support some mac platforms, but if I recall correctly only the Motorola 68000 based ones. Apple is supporting the development of a Linux port to PowerPC based Macs. -john From owner-freebsd-www Fri Jan 24 13:57:38 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id NAA22146 for www-outgoing; Fri, 24 Jan 1997 13:57:38 -0800 (PST) Received: from gordius.gordian.com (gordius.gordian.com [192.73.220.81]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id NAA22139 for ; Fri, 24 Jan 1997 13:57:34 -0800 (PST) Received: from ares.gordian.com (ares.gordian.com [192.73.220.49]) by gordius.gordian.com (8.7.5/8.6.5) with ESMTP id NAA15922 for ; Fri, 24 Jan 1997 13:57:32 -0800 (PST) Received: (from steve@localhost) by ares.gordian.com (8.7.5/8.7.3) id NAA00331; Fri, 24 Jan 1997 13:57:32 -0800 (PST) To: www@freebsd.org Subject: I notice that you guys use CRL.NET... Yes, that is always a possibility with any computer connected to the Internet. The default configurations for FreeBSD are pretty secure, but you can always improve on things. > And could you send me some thing please > about firewalls. There is a section in the FreeBSD handbook (http://www.freebsd.org/handbook) on enabling the firewall support in FreeBSD. More generally, the book "Practical Unix Security" by Simson Garfinkel and Gene Spafford, published by O'Reilly & Associates is a good resource. > and one more quick question would you please tell me > how i can find how i find how to save stuff to my hd and tape drive For general backups, dump, and its companion restore, are the best. Tar works too. The details of using these programs depends somewhat on the type of tape drive you have. -john From owner-freebsd-www Sat Jan 25 18:09:23 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id SAA09530 for www-outgoing; Sat, 25 Jan 1997 18:09:23 -0800 (PST) Received: from n1.wdc.net (n1.wdc.net [204.140.136.18]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id SAA09524 for ; Sat, 25 Jan 1997 18:09:20 -0800 (PST) Received: from darren.wdc.net (darren.wdc.net [204.140.136.50]) by n1.wdc.net (8.8.4/8.6.12) with SMTP id SAA20263 for ; Sat, 25 Jan 1997 18:08:18 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: <32EABE5F.2709@wdc.net> Date: Sat, 25 Jan 1997 18:15:59 -0800 From: Darren Bordelon Reply-To: darren@wdc.net Organization: WDC X-Mailer: Mozilla 3.0 (Win95; I) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: www@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Add to commercial listing Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hi, WDC (www.wdc.net) uses FreeBSD in its Internet operations.
