These libraries are stored in .minecraft/bin btw. Yes there is :D I just tried it on FreeBSD 9-CURRENT amd64. These steps should work: 1) Create a VirtualBox VM with a Windows XP guest. 2) Enable 3D acceleration in the VirtualBox settings under "Display -> Video" (I also allocated 32MB to the video card) 3) Install the VirtualBox guest additions. 4) Disable mouse integration 5) Install java 6 & enjoy minecraft ! Performance seems satisfactory. Hardware: Phenom II X4 3Ghz and a nVidia 460GTX. BTW I thought of yet another way to play minecraft; you can also try wine. On amd64 wine works when installed in a chroot/jail. I know of at least one person who plays World of Warcraft on FreeBSD/amd64 using wine. -- Pieter de Goeje From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Nov 28 19:02:41 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 79B26106566B for ; Sun, 28 Nov 2010 19:02:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd-java@m.gmane.org) Received: from lo.gmane.org (lo.gmane.org [80.91.229.12]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0EE218FC0C for ; Sun, 28 Nov 2010 19:02:39 +0000 (UTC) Received: from list by lo.gmane.org with local (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1PMmWE-0006Lm-Ha for freebsd-java@freebsd.org; Sun, 28 Nov 2010 20:02:38 +0100 Received: from cpe-188-129-81-137.dynamic.amis.hr ([188.129.81.137]) by main.gmane.org with esmtp (Gmexim 0.1 (Debian)) id 1AlnuQ-0007hv-00 for ; Sun, 28 Nov 2010 20:02:38 +0100 Received: from ivoras by cpe-188-129-81-137.dynamic.amis.hr with local (Gmexim 0.1 (Debian)) id 1AlnuQ-0007hv-00 for ; Sun, 28 Nov 2010 20:02:38 +0100 X-Injected-Via-Gmane: http://gmane.org/ To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org From: Ivan Voras Date: Sun, 28 Nov 2010 20:02:24 +0100 Lines: 39 Message-ID: References: <201011281517.54987.pieter@degoeje.nl> <201011281627.38379.pieter@degoeje.nl> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Complaints-To: usenet@dough.gmane.org X-Gmane-NNTP-Posting-Host: cpe-188-129-81-137.dynamic.amis.hr User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; FreeBSD amd64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101102 Thunderbird/3.1.6 In-Reply-To: <201011281627.38379.pieter@degoeje.nl> Subject: Re: Minecraft?
