I suspect that your removal of your saved configuration changed the timing or triggered a change in defaults so that the failure to start the gnome-settings-daemon does not cause metacity to fail. I could probably dig through the repo and find the exact issue, but, as I mentioned, a faster graphics card took care of the race so that the gnome-settings-daemon did get started. -- R. If I manually execute ./configure --without-espeak, then all is ok, but if I do `make configure` in port's dir (with espeak option disabled), then it will pick it up anyway. I checked the configure. There is also check for with-espeak-dir. If it's not ``no'', then it will try to build espeak. Dunno, may be this configure arg is enabled by default or something. Anyway, I was able to fix the breakage like this. Please see the patch attached. -- Regards, Ruslan T.O.S. About gnome2, only the desktop ports are going away, ports like gnome-panel, gnome-session, gnome-desktop (or beter said updated to there 3.x version). I won't be touching libgnomeui and the like. And yes gnome-keyring is going to be a "issue" port that will need a solution. I just started to looking at ports that use gnome-panel and evolution-data-server. -Koop From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Nov 28 22:50:10 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@smarthost.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B04D583F; Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:50:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206c::16:87]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 85A951994; Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:50:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rASMoA8q029496; Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:50:10 GMT (envelope-from edwin@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from edwin@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7/Submit) id rASMoAaO029495; Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:50:10 GMT (envelope-from edwin) Date: Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:50:10 GMT Message-Id: <201311282250.rASMoAaO029495@freefall.freebsd.org> To: edwin@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org, gnome@FreeBSD.org From: edwin@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/184362: x11/mate-terminal crash X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.16 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:50:10 -0000 Synopsis: x11/mate-terminal crash Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-ports-bugs->gnome Responsible-Changed-By: edwin Responsible-Changed-When: Thu Nov 28 22:50:10 UTC 2013 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer (via the GNATS Auto Assign Tool) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=184362 From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Nov 29 09:33:10 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 166B89F5 for ; Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:33:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from portscout.freebsd.org (unknown [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:123]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 048CF19A0 for ; Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:33:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from portscout.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.123]) by portscout.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rAT9X93g056546 for ; Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:33:09 GMT (envelope-from portscout@portscout.freebsd.org) Received: (from portscout@localhost) by portscout.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.6/Submit) id rAT9X9Oa056541; Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:33:09 GMT (envelope-from portscout) Message-Id: <201311290933.rAT9X9Oa056541@portscout.freebsd.org> Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Type: text/plain MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:33:09 +0000 From: portscout@FreeBSD.org To: gnome@freebsd.org Subject: FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date X-Mailer: portscout/0.8.1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.16 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:33:10 -0000 Dear port maintainer, The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your ports appears to be out of date. It runs but reports that "The protocol vnc is not supported." I have confirmed that gnome-vnc is installed (and re-installed it) and that vnc.vinagre-plugin and libvnc.so are installed. Any idea what might trigger this? It was working fine one day and broken the next. The problem started around the beginning of November and I see no changes to either vinagre or gtk-vnc. It may have been about the time of the libtasn1 update which triggered a re-build of a bunch of ports. Did the API change in some incompatible way? Any ideas? Is anyone else seeing this? I really need vnc to access a windows system.
