The application works fine logged in as root but exits with signal 11 segment violation as any other user. I have chmod 777 to all files in the directory, the directory itself, chown all files and the directory, chmod 777 the queue placeholders. I do not understand signals well enough to find out what is wrong. The signal violation is picked by an err trap routine. Does anyone know what may be wrong. Any ideas on how to debug it? Are there any compatiblity considerations? I just aquired a 2842 to test out the aic7770 driver with. Working fine so far. There is still a strange bug that can show up on boot that I'm trying to track down. I get it about once every 20 boots or so. When you probe a target, an SCB is lost in the kernel driver (a scheduled command) and the card reports command complete on it. It is non destructive and usually goes away with a warm boot. Now that I have a little time on my hands myself, I'll be spending more time tracking it down. The 2842 is a much faster adaptor than the 154x series (I have one of those too). > > Thanks for the help, I'll be writing the check next Tuesday, so I need > the info soon...... > > ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- > Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data > chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. > 7608 Topton St. | > New Carrollton, MD 20784 | I run Journey2 (Esix SVR4) and n3lxx (FreeBSD) > (301) 459-2316 | > ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- -- Justin From owner-freebsd-questions Sat Dec 17 13:48:41 1994 Return-Path: questions-owner Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.cdrom.com (8.6.8/8.6.6) id NAA18446 for questions-outgoing; Sat, 17 Dec 1994 13:48:41 -0800 Received: from gilbertr.npt.nuwc.navy.mil (GILBERTR.NPT.NUWC.NAVY.MIL [129.190.75.33]) by freefall.cdrom.com (8.6.8/8.6.6) with ESMTP id NAA18440 for ; Sat, 17 Dec 1994 13:48:39 -0800 Received: from localhost (root@localhost) by gilbertr.npt.nuwc.navy.mil (8.3/8.3) id QAA00137; Sat, 17 Dec 1994 16:48:22 -0800 Date: Sat, 17 Dec 1994 16:48:22 -0800 From: Charlie Root Message-Id: <199412180048.QAA00137@gilbertr.npt.nuwc.navy.mil> To: freebsd-questions@freefall.cdrom.com Subject: 2.0 RELEASE installation Sender: questions-owner@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk Hi again: I moved my 0.5 gig to drive zero; disconnected the other hard drive. Knowing various packages hate of system defaults (especially the system defined endianess), it wouldn't surprise me to find that you have to change a byte sex parameter in one of the .h files. I'll check to see if I have this locally, if so I'll have a quick `look-see'. (think it was htonl(), but its beena while. at any rate, they were including a function with the same name as a library function and the result would not work. changing the source to use the non-pointer version of the 64 bit encoding routines avoided the problme) Jonathan M.
