The pgcc port appeared to build and install without a problem. But it doesn't have any new libg++ source. When you compile a g++ program the new compiler looks for "-lstdc++" which isn't in the existing installed libraries. So I pulled down the newest libg++ (which has -lstdc++) from prep and started building that. Then I had a problem with no ".weak" directive in the assembler. So I pulled down the latest "binutils" from prep and started building that after configuring as "i386-unknown-bsd". Then the assembler worked OK, but most of the new binutils wouldn't recognize some of our object files (explicitly our crt files). So I removed all the new binutils that were in my search path except the assembler, and finally had a full tool chain that at least compiles, links, and runs hello.cc. Do I have something set up wrong so that I had to do this? -- Peter Dufault Real-Time Machine Control and Simulation HD Associates, Inc. The ports can put stuff in /usr/local/man, and they will actually go to .../share/man. No special treatment necessary for the ports, except fixing the PLISTs (actually this is not strictly *necessary*, even this can be avoided), and this is our own file so it's easy to fix. The only problem is how to do the move over. Let's discuss this more in ports. I'm not sure about the legal status of the Linux port which is floating around on the net. Maybe someone who has actually bought his copy could check his license. I do remember that a copy of the spice3e2 source had to be withdrawn from the net some time ago. tg From owner-freebsd-ports Fri Feb 16 09:20:56 1996 Return-Path: owner-ports Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.7.3/8.7.3) id JAA17855 for ports-outgoing; Fri, 16 Feb 1996 09:20:56 -0800 (PST) Received: from garnet.swn.com (garnet.swn.com [204.57.206.2]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.7.3/8.7.3) with SMTP id JAA17846 Fri, 16 Feb 1996 09:20:47 -0800 (PST) Received: from quixote.swn.com (dugger@quixote.swn.com [204.57.206.105]) by garnet.swn.com (8.6.12/951025.1515-dah) with SMTP id JAA12880; Fri, 16 Feb 1996 09:20:16 -0800 Date: Fri, 16 Feb 1996 09:23:48 -0800 (PST) From: Don Dugger Reply-To: Don Dugger Subject: Re: sb16, matcd and workman To: Will Mitayai Keeso Rowe cc: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org, freebsd-ports@freebsd.org In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII Sender: owner-ports@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk I'm using workman with my matcd, but I had to make some changes to the code. What is the equivalent on FBSD ? To port over all of the QuickCam stuff you need to: Instead of ioperm(), you just want to say: open ("/dev/io", O_RDONLY); Take all of the outb(x,y) and change to: outb(y,x); Remove Linux includes, replace with: #include Also, I would suggest on waiting to make ports for the QuickCam software-- It's in a heavy state of flux right now, and new releases are very frequent.
