(Well, it supports it, but only for one PVC). Inbound rate limiting is not supported on any card I know of - this is a function of the network, not the end system. harti -- harti brandt, http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/cats/employees/hartmut.brandt/private brandt@fokus.fhg.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-atm" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-atm Thu Apr 18 8:22:39 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-atm@freebsd.org Received: from proton.hexanet.fr (proton.hexanet.fr [81.23.32.33]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6D25537B41A for ; Thu, 18 Apr 2002 08:22:34 -0700 (PDT) Received: from hexanet.fr (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by proton.hexanet.fr (8.11.6/8.11.6) with SMTP id g3IFMTs02814; Thu, 18 Apr 2002 17:22:30 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from c.prevotaux@hexanet.fr) Date: Thu, 18 Apr 2002 17:22:29 +0200 From: Christophe Prevotaux To: alex@aspenworks.com Cc: atm@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ATM Rate Limiting on PVC Message-Id: <20020418172229.225675c3.c.prevotaux@hexanet.fr> In-Reply-To: <1019130773.3cbeb39548ccd@aspenworks.com> References: <20020418131924.34383813.c.prevotaux@hexanet.fr> <1019130773.3cbeb39548ccd@aspenworks.com> Organization: HEXANET Sarl X-Mailer: Sylpheed version 0.7.4 (GTK+ 1.2.10; i386-portbld-freebsd4.4) X-NCC-RegID: fr.hexanet Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Sender: owner-freebsd-atm@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Because I want to allow a certain amount of bandwidth per PVC and I want to choose the amount of bandwidth for each of them On Thu, 18 Apr 2002 05:52:53 -0600 alex@aspenworks.com wrote: > Cell pacing outbound is possible. My IDT driver uses these on VC open to set the VC CBR or VBR parameters, for example. It is also possible to install sysctl variables into a driver and use them to set the VC parameters. This is far from elegant, but might be useful if the program creating the VC does not set the traffic parameters. Of course, it is good to have hardware that supports cell rate control. > Yes, but the PCA200E does not support rate limiting (i.e. traffic > shaping). (Well, it supports it, but only for one PVC). Usually, one wants to keep every good PDU that arrives :-) All the best, -Richard To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-atm" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-atm Thu Apr 18 11:20:58 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-atm@freebsd.org Received: from fledge.watson.org (fledge.watson.org [204.156.12.50]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E7D5F37B41A for ; Thu, 18 Apr 2002 11:20:54 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost (arr@localhost) by fledge.watson.org (8.11.6/8.11.6) with SMTP id g3IIKk695067 for ; Thu, 18 Apr 2002 14:20:46 -0400 (EDT) (envelope-from arr@FreeBSD.org) X-Authentication-Warning: fledge.watson.org: arr owned process doing -bs Date: Thu, 18 Apr 2002 14:20:45 -0400 (EDT) From: "Andrew R. I know there has been some discussion recently of axing this code and I know that there are some of us who'd rather see this code get brought back to life and cleaned up... I intend to send this to -developers@ if there is not much of a response and then proceed from there. Cheers, Andrew -- Andrew R.
