There is the cluster software I have been working on, which is failover software, and then there is the Beowulf type--which you have to get somewhere else. As I see it they are probably different ports. If you want failover, check here: http://www.sporner.com/freebsdclusters otherwise, check for a Beowulf port. I still intend to write a futures paper for the next version (including process swapping across machines--towards where VMS clusters are). We tried to install the DP1 have decided not to use FreeBSD. We have to use 5.0 if we want to use FreeBSD because of the platform. The FreeBSD 5.0 cd is the only one rigth now that can boot but it doesn't mount the CD. This cluster has to be Beowulf, do things like compile code, convert lots of wav files to mp3, ect. -- Best regards/Met vriendelijke groet, Alex To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-cluster" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-cluster Thu Oct 10 21: 9:42 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-cluster@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 14EEC37B401 for ; Thu, 10 Oct 2002 21:09:40 -0700 (PDT) Received: from ws5-3.us4.outblaze.com (205-158-62-133.outblaze.com [205.158.62.133]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id A81B243EB3 for ; Thu, 10 Oct 2002 21:09:39 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from click46@operamail.com) Received: (qmail 24189 invoked by uid 1001); 11 Oct 2002 04:09:39 -0000 Message-ID: <20021011040939.24188.qmail@operamail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-15" Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: MIME-tools 5.41 (Entity 5.404) Received: from [64.32.182.44] by ws5-3.us4.outblaze.com with http for click46@operamail.com; Fri, 11 Oct 2002 12:09:39 +0800 From: "aaron g" To: Cc: freebsd-cluster@freebsd.org Date: Fri, 11 Oct 2002 12:09:39 +0800 Subject: Re: Re[2]: newbie X-Originating-Ip: 64.32.182.44 X-Originating-Server: ws5-3.us4.outblaze.com Sender: owner-freebsd-cluster@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG So by "only platform" I take it you are running sparc? -aarong ----- Original Message ----- From: Alex Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 18:17:26 +0200 To: Andy Sporner Subject: Re[2]: newbie > Hello/Beste Andy, > > Thursday, October 10, 2002, 2:11:29 PM, you wrote: > > AS> Alex wrote: > > >>Hello/Beste freebsd-cluster, > >> > >>Hi i'm new to the list.
