The card I will buy is: 3CRWE154G72-ME OfficeConnect Wireless 11g PC Card 802.11g The card is a 802.11g 54Mbit pcmia wlan card. If it's not supported by freebsd maby you have any idea if it is supported by any of the other *bsd's or even linux? I couldn't find any info about the card in the hardware list but maby the driver is to new, or no driver exists ? =/ -- Daniel Johansson - From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Aug 18 23:21:03 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BC9A116A4BF for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2003 23:21:03 -0700 (PDT) Received: from hyperreal.org (taz3.hyperreal.org [209.237.226.90]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 3901B43F85 for ; Mon, 18 Aug 2003 23:21:03 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from brian@hyperreal.org) Received: (qmail 9626 invoked from network); 19 Aug 2003 06:21:02 -0000 Received: from localhost.hyperreal.org (HELO fez.hyperreal.org) (127.0.0.1) by localhost.hyperreal.org with SMTP; 19 Aug 2003 06:21:02 -0000 Received: (qmail 31813 invoked by uid 1000); 19 Aug 2003 06:21:00 -0000 Received: from localhost (sendmail-bs@127.0.0.1) by localhost with SMTP; 19 Aug 2003 06:21:00 -0000 Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 23:21:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Brian Behlendorf To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20030814092314.P5892@fez.hyperreal.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII X-Spam-Rating: localhost.hyperreal.org 1.6.2 0/1000/N Subject: Suggestions for high-quality audio recording? I've searched the freebsd.org mail archives to see whether anyone's been able to record with any sort of USB Audio device (using uaudio) and it doesn't look good. Another option is that the motherboard I've currently got in my workstation in the office claims to support S/PDIF in, so an offboard A-D converter might work - but I have no idea whether the S/PDIF in is actually supported or not, nor what bitrates it'll understand. Here's all dmesg tells me: pci0: (vendor=0x8086, dev=0x24c3) at 31.3 irq 5 pcm0: port 0xe400-0xe43f,0xe000-0xe0ff mem 0xec182000-0xec1820ff,0xec181000-0xec1811ff irq 5 at device 31.5 on pci0 pcm0: Right now, though, I can't even get this card to record off the mic in. Hereīs what came out: - D-Link, Quad Card 'DFE-580TX Server-Adapter', 169,-- Euro see http://www.alternate.de/ works as ste0 - ste3 type cards in FreeBSD - Pyramid, Intel based 3 port card see http://www.pyramid.de/d/builttosuit/3nic.shtml?id=3 works as fxpX with FreeBSD The D-Link card is OK but sucks in terms of interrupt handling (relevant if you want to plug more than 2 cards into one PC, which is not the case with you obviously). I donīt know of any dual-card but maybe the info above helps anyway. In terms of fan speeds, it is controlled by the BMC. On our Servers, until we do a complete upgrade of the BIOS and BMC the fans are good for a jet on takeoff. Once we have done the upgrade, the Server fans slow down considerably. Having said that, perhaps ask your HP rep to get you (if it even available..we don't sell hp servers) the BMC/FRUSDR/BIOS upgrade files. Hope that helps you out. IPMI is used to communicate with the BMC and FRUSDR. The BMC sensors get the information and/or logs and status on various components such as fans, power supplies and cpus. The BMC which is part of the Server Board also controls the fan speeds. Clearly the screenshots on our site with respect to IPMI do show lower/upper limits as well as current status of components. You need their health driver which is available for Linux on their website. HP may very well decide to release the port to FreeBSD that Peter Wemm did for them, so that Yahoo! could slow the fan speeds down, but it is for HP to decide if that work will get released. akanwar@digitarchy.com (akanwar@digitarchy.com) wrote: > Hi Paul and Lanny, > > Thanks for your replies. > > Paul, you keep insisting that HP's use a seperate driver ... seems like you > run some of these machines :).
