State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: remko State-Changed-When: Sun Dec 25 10:00:00 UTC 2005 State-Changed-Why: Actually the printed output is correct. When looking into the commands.c file (used for vinum) you will see a lot of lines with: commands.c: printf(" sd name %s.p0.s%d drive %s size %lldb\n", those statements, which tells me the output should be correct. On the other hand, the length statements are used to configure vinum from a file. Hm.. this is still somewhat obscure. This will read the list of installed ports and create a database file in the /var/db/pkg directory. Now when you run portupgrade -a, it will read this and the ports INDEX file. Finally, portupgrade will begin to download, build, backup, install, and clean the ports which have been updated. portupgrade comes with a lot of options for different use cases, the most important ones will be presented below." If I am not mistaken (I could very well be mistaken); the index file isn't download when CVS's is run. Either "make fetchindex" or "make index" will create the index (I believe). Should a step be added to the handbook? I may have misinterpreted the document; perhaps I should have double checked with the mailing list. My apologies if I have used the incorrect procedure. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. Although i really appriciate it that you think along, i do not think we should have this information in the handbook. People that are willing to apply this should consider a lot more then just connect it. For example the security risks which are involved etc. And then again, the prices of NICs are even lower today so, people are better of buying a extra nic so they can communicate with the internet with a 'standarized' setup. With this explaination; close the PR. Thanks for the submission though! Since the rc.conf.local is mentioned in rc(8) SYNOPSIS and it's still being read so that one can still use it, it shouldn't be removed from there. Unfortunately the wine port doesn't build on amd64 - The moused documentation is unclear.. I found it difficult to find out that I had to add "-z 4" to moused to get the wheel recognized. USB is not an option when configuring moused with sysinstall. - When installing a "client" firewall, it ended up being key to open DHCP access to the net. Perhaps it should be added to the default "client" config in rc.firewall. - We should probably have a section on resizing ntfs filesystems. I had to download a linux "live CD" for this :(. I hope mentioning this details helps improve (even more) the current documentation but, in any case, thanks for the great job you've done. cheers, Pedro. ___________________________________ Yahoo! The community would probably benifit if install guides for the most recent version of Oracle would become available, but this PR should be closed. I'll write something if someone would care to open a new PR to remind me. Ceri
