Could you please visit http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org.html and correct the problems listed there? The individual ports with problems are audio/linux-esound,audio/linux-libaudiofile,devel/linux-libglade,graphics/linux-jpeg,graphics/linux-ungif,japanese/linux-ttfonts,textproc/linux-expat,textproc/linux-libxml,x11-fonts/linux-urw-fonts,x11-toolkits/linux-gtk,x11-toolkits/linux-openmotif,x11-toolkits/linux-pango,x11/linux-gnomelibs. If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do not necessarily have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost. Problems are usually of two types: 1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". If you added or deleted any files, please make an explicit note of it. 2. The mirror site being used no longer contains the software package in question, or no longer exists. Solutions include: a) If there are other mirror sites, just remove the bad site from the list. (Make sure that what appears to be a bad site isn't actually a problem of type 1, upgrade) b) If the README or other support files in the software documentation mention where to get the software package, use one of those sites. c) Use a search engine to find another place to get the original DISTFILES. Make sure that you don't pick a FreeBSD distfiles mirror -- if you can't find any other places where the file exists, it can be a LOCAL_PORT or you can simply comment out the MASTER_SITES= line, with a comment explaining why. Once you have a solution, use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -u" of the Makefile. Note that this isn't an urgent issue, as people who try to build the port now will just fall back to the FreeBSD distfiles mirror. Please just put it on your list to do and get to it when you have time. These messages will continue to arrive twice a month until the fix is committed, as a reminder. Thanks, Bill "distfiles" Fenner. I suspect that if you kldload svr4.ko first and then kldload=20 linux.ko that it might work, but that no svr4 binaries would work at that=20 point. The only way this can be fixed is if someone can figure out a way t= o=20 distinguish a SVR4 a.out binary from a Linux a.out binary. =2D-=20 John Baldwin =A0<>< =A0http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/ "Power Users Use the Power to Serve" =A0=3D =A0http://www.FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Nov 23 14:35:46 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B714216A420 for ; Wed, 23 Nov 2005 14:35:46 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from roberthuff@rcn.com) Received: from smtp01.mrf.mail.rcn.net (smtp01.mrf.mail.rcn.net [207.172.4.61]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5A13843D58 for ; Wed, 23 Nov 2005 14:35:46 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from roberthuff@rcn.com) Received: from 209-6-22-143.c3-0.smr-ubr1.sbo-smr.ma.cable.rcn.com (HELO jerusalem.litteratus.org.litteratus.org) ([209.6.22.143]) by smtp01.mrf.mail.rcn.net with ESMTP; 23 Nov 2005 09:35:46 -0500 X-IronPort-AV: i="3.97,364,1125892800"; d="scan'208"; a="132199041:sNHT28945140" From: Robert Huff MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-ID: <17284.32307.784247.207350@jerusalem.litteratus.org> Date: Wed, 23 Nov 2005 09:35:31 -0500 To: freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.org X-Mailer: VM 7.17 under 21.5 (beta23) "daikon" XEmacs Lucid Cc: Subject: warning X-BeenThere: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Development of Emulators of other operating systems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 23 Nov 2005 14:35:46 -0000 Hello: While upgrading x11/toolkits/linux-gtk2, I get this: GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0) Nothing seems to be broken, but I'd like to confirm this isn't the harbinger for some more obscure but equally damaging problem. I've seen this too at the time I created the update for the port. So far I've seen no problem so far. It's just a warning, not an error (according to the message you quoted here). I assume GTK is able to differentiate between a warning and an error. I have some ideas what may be the cause (it may involve LINUXBASE/etc/passwd and related files), but so far I hadn't time to investigate this closer and maybe quiet the warning somehow. I get a similar error when running acroread7. My UID is 1000 and is not in /etc/passwd, but comes from NIS. Sadly, acroread7 bails out, if it can't resolve the UID. The fix is, to tell /compat/linux/etc/nsswitch.conf to look at NIS too. It's a minor inconvenience, that nsswitch.conf gets clobbered every time linux_base is reinstalled (and thereby breaking acroread7 for me). Robert: Is UID 0 in your /etc/passwd? Can you try changeing /compat/linux/etc/nsswitch.conf to something like this: passwd: files nisplus nis shadow: files nisplus nis group: files nisplus nis Ulrich Spoerlein --=20 PGP Key ID: F0DB9F44 Encrypted mail welcome!
