Into channel A two Seagete drives (ST336607LC and ST373307LC) are plugged. Installation CD boots only in safe mode, SCB timout errors appears from time to time and also reflected in dmesg. Is there the issue with ahd driver or it is the issue with Seagete disks or settings? dmesg output: kernel boot file is /boot/kernel/kernel mfdev=1 cmdreg=0x0106, statreg=0x0090, cachelnsz=0 (dwords) This server uses the Adaptec AIC-7902 with the 2015s add-on card for the zero raid functionality. When we start the FreeBSD 4.10 installation (from cdrom) the sysinstall utility gives an error that it cannot find any disks! We also tried it with a FreeBSD 5.3 installation CD, but this one already gives an error while loading the drivers. Something like: ata1-master: DEVICE ATAPI time out. Can you give us some advice on how to solve this problem? Kind regards, Maikel Lambregts _______________________ Silverstreet Active Media Tivolistraat 6-28 5017 HP Tilburg The Netherlands [P]: +31 (0)13-4690886 [F]: +31 (0)13-4690887 www.silverstreet.nl info@silverstreet.nl From owner-freebsd-scsi@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Feb 21 09:22:01 2005 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 03F8216A4CE; Mon, 21 Feb 2005 09:22:01 +0000 (GMT) Received: from cs1.cs.huji.ac.il (cs1.cs.huji.ac.il [132.65.16.10]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A299C43D2D; Mon, 21 Feb 2005 09:22:00 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from danny@cs.huji.ac.il) Received: from pampa.cs.huji.ac.il ([132.65.80.32]) by cs1.cs.huji.ac.il with esmtp id 1D39lO-000ES6-L4; Mon, 21 Feb 2005 11:21:58 +0200 X-Mailer: exmh version 2.7.0 06/18/2004 with nmh-1.0.4 To: Danny Braniss In-Reply-To: Message from Danny Braniss Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2005 11:21:58 +0200 From: Danny Braniss Message-ID: cc: Scott Long cc: scsi@freebsd.org Subject: and now it's walking! X-BeenThere: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: SCSI subsystem List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2005 15:54:26 -0000 Hello I am trying to use a HP EVA 5000 SAN through a Qlogic ISP 2200 PCI FC-AL Adapter on a HP DL-380 (dmesg inline at the end), and so far I've failed. The HBA is recognized as: isp0: port 0x4000-0x40ff mem 0xf7ff0000-0xf7 ff0fff irq 10 at device 1.0 on pci6 I have tried with ispfw(4) both as a module and compiled in, with "options ISP_TARGET_MODE" and without. I need to run 'camcontrol rescan all' to see anything more than the built in RAID, with ISP_TARGET_MODE and ispfw(4) compiled in. After running 'camcontrol rescan all' I get: # camcontrol devlist -v scbus0 on ciss0 bus 0: at scbus0 target 0 lun 0 (pass0,da0) scbus1 on ciss0 bus 32: scbus2 on ciss0 bus 33: scbus3 on isp0 bus 0: at scbus3 target 0 lun 0 (pass1) < > at scbus3 target -1 lun -1 () scbus-1 on xpt0 bus 0: < > at scbus-1 target -1 lun -1 (xpt0) I've been trying to rescan 3:0:0 and 3:0:1 and various other combinations. The SAN should have the volume available at LUN 1, according to our storage manager, but nothing is found there. I expected getting a new da1 device and access the SAN through that, but no joy so far. I did get a da1 device without ispfw(4) and ISP_TARGET_MODE in the kernel (but ispfw(4) loaded as a module, but I found out the hard way (disklabeling and newfs'ing it) that that was just another name for the da0 device. Thank god for nightly full backups... So, what blindingly obvious thing am I missing here? Have a nice day Morten Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project.
