Before I look at how to implement it, is there any objection to _locale presetting the two variables to its value (and possibly some error-checking via locale(1)? As for a site-wide default, I currently have "export LANG=en_US.UTF-8" in my rc.conf. Should we introduce a general "locale" variable for this? Thanks!
