I can fix it by pressing the 'm' button. I can break it again by pressing 'm' as well. The 'm' button is now a `toggle button-breakage' button, so to speak. I used the hints you described in: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-October/029136.html When I run `gdb X' and start an X server and place a break point on CoreProcessKeyboardEvent(), nothing out of the ordinary happens when a button seems to work. When running `cont' several times, I see the correct input show up in an xterm. When I press the 'm' button to wreck it all, I see the following message show up when I press the 'b' or 'n' button: | mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping. I don't see this message when I press a correctly functioning button. I've CC'd this message to the FreeBSD X11 list as well, hoping that one of the Xorg and FreeBSD folks can use this information to investigate this problem more closely. If there are already better solutions for this I'm all ears.) I have just upgraded to 7.3 as of Oct 13, 2007 on 6.2-STABLE (built Jun 14, 2007). My keyboard is a 105-key PC/AT keyboard. With the two patches referenced above, xkeyboard now "works for me" insofar as the functionality of NumLock/CapsLock is now present. The status LEDs however do not reflect the "status change" of the respective modifier key. It seems that I cannot simply add "USE_XORG+= xf86dgaproto" and be done with it. If you guys have a minute, could you please take a look and point me to right direction of how to solve this issue? I suspect I have to add something near USE_GL knob. I'm also wondering why bunch of fooprotos ended up being in RUN_DEPS, aren't they are just header files for corresponding libs? Yes, I have X1400, and will be happy to test/try new drivers. Native resolution (1400x1050) works well for me under VESA driver. Most crucial features for me: - support of second display (for xinerama) - support of turning off back-light (to save battery power) - sometimes, OpenGL support for some programs, like google-earth.=20 vgapci0@pci1:0:0: class=3D0x030000 card=3D0x200617aa chip=3D0x7145100= 2 rev=3D0x00 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'ATI Technologies Inc.' device =3D 'x1400 PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7145&SUBSYS_20031028&REV_00\4&1C= 9EC085&0&0008' class =3D display subclass =3D VGA > Regards, > Rene --=20 Vladimir B. From: Warren Block To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org, wblock@wonkity.com Cc: Subject: Re: ports/116421: x11/xdm config file path incorrect (xorg 7.3) Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2007 10:14:38 -0600 (MDT) The latest port of xdm (1.1.6_1) fixes the main problem by changing xdm-config to point the ${PREFIX}/lib/xdm/ as the config and script directories. The Makefile still has CONFIGURE_ARGS+= --with-xdmconfigdir=${EXAMPLESDIR} \ --with-xdmscriptdir=${EXAMPLESDIR} so the xdm binary defaults to using the examples dir. On FreeBSD, POLA suggests that should also be ${PREFIX}/lib/xdm/ unless there's some reason otherwise. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Oct 17 03:49:56 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5A4A316A41A for ; Wed, 17 Oct 2007 03:49:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from sfourman@gmail.com) Received: from nf-out-0910.google.com (nf-out-0910.google.com [64.233.182.185]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 870D013C448 for ; Wed, 17 Oct 2007 03:49:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from sfourman@gmail.com) Received: by nf-out-0910.google.com with SMTP id b2so1753076nfb for ; Tue, 16 Oct 2007 20:49:54 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition; bh=1ltwQoIIxEw2Qz6EEMQ+huYd+x/D1AXsCt3rHZ+FHPw=; b=A/VGaPODVG2bof9lB65pnXEbpjFUEWeEv9yPj0ussGNdhpbLTSrO2Y5ypuHKpDkUA/lp2ExMrdSvPnejV4gxHMigNysmOMWFHxCMMkqVSWf67fICrg9vCmZUJLYWyGqYPUBLYviKBT3IdMdO5sVDId+76nsvNBFEQBmrmILT9j0= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition; b=pc1geogPnr9mccBxr/csJmuiMI/2auKDH6Zb3MPnxzdVz68P6vt6WtohWBrxDCODoLlUkrIqHzt1IwfcoNwDJC8P9EmKXSZq3GGrIB8MLyz3WaQksxviv3gCY29aEtW0LkOExjU55bLPJOVHpoJpe5tpJB3n03HP0cNdADUgZzY= Received: by 10.86.65.11 with SMTP id n11mr6468631fga.1192591462542; Tue, 16 Oct 2007 20:24:22 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.86.91.5 with HTTP; Tue, 16 Oct 2007 20:24:22 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <11167f520710162024g650f0cb4ja6fbf8dd43b0fb1f@mail.gmail.com> Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2007 22:24:22 -0500 From: "Sam Fourman Jr." To: x11@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Cc: Subject: Protocol evdev in xorg 7.2 X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 17 Oct 2007 03:49:56 -0000 hello, I have a Logitech MX1000 Wireless Mouse, and I would like to use all the buttons in xorg I found this web page http://blog.blackdown.de/2005/04/03/logitech-mx1000-configuration/ my question does xorg 7.2 with FreeBSD 6.2 support this Option "Protocol" "evdev" if anyone is using a Logitech MX1000 in FreeBSD please let me know how it is working or if it works. I just updated various ports this morning, including dri and libGL, and now I get the black windows again. If I build the drivers from Mesa git, which is what I did before, AIGLX won't work. Never saw any other reports of the problem (until now), so left my system patched. The patch consisted of copying the shared make file into the dri Makefile and removing the two offending lines.
