It will be preceded by two days of tutorials on 6-7 May. We are now accepting proposals for talks. The talks should be designed with a very strong technical content bias. Proposals of a business development or marketing nature are not appropriate for this venue. If you are doing something interesting with a BSD operating system, please submit a proposal. Whether you are developing a very complex system using BSD as the foundation, or helping others and have a story to tell about how BSD played a role, we want to hear about your experience. People using BSD as a platform for research are also encouraged to submit a proposal. Possible topics include: * How we manage a giant installation with respect to handling spam. * and/or sysadmin. * and/or networking. From the BSDCan website, the Archives section will allow you to review the wide variety of past BSDCan presentations as further examples. Both users and developers are encouraged to share their experiences. The RFP schedule is: 19 Dec 2008 Proposal acceptance begins 19 Jan 2009 Proposal acceptance ends 19 Feb 2009 Confirmation of accepted proposals See also Instructions for submitting a proposal to BSDCan 2009 are available from: -- Dan Langille - http://www.langille.org/ BSDCan - The Technical BSD Conference: http://www.bsdcan.org/ PGCon - The PostgreSQL Conference: http://www.pgcon.org/ From owner-freebsd-advocacy@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Dec 19 04:12:55 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: advocacy@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 360421065674 for ; Fri, 19 Dec 2008 04:12:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kana02@paypal.com) Received: from mx1.phx.paypal.com (mx1.phx.paypal.com [66.211.168.231]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F1C398FC18 for ; Fri, 19 Dec 2008 04:12:54 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kana02@paypal.com) DomainKey-Signature: s=dkim; d=paypal.com; c=nofws; q=dns; h=Received:thread-index:Received:Message-ID:Date:From:To: Subject:MIME-Version:Content-Type: Content-Transfer-Encoding:Content-Class:Importance: Priority:X-MimeOLE:X-Mailer:Return-Path: X-OriginalArrivalTime; b=TmbHVV0araVl7Xejssi/zNHA2bUQeEiOlLrtiBySBvG5tzppWL49j3bH B//0IgZVsM3cej5Il1vYYDhpWhwPHfOiwKnVfr9NT+57JIDt+8HNk2GKi xZLfEfWm9Ei9VqOKxTyI8V2aX0KEmfx55wfux3yO0kdh3Aio7HXqgnMnC s=; DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=paypal.com; i=kana02@paypal.com; q=dns/txt; s=dkim; t=1229659975; x=1261195975; h=from:sender:reply-to:subject:date:message-id:to:cc: mime-version:content-transfer-encoding:content-id: content-description:resent-date:resent-from:resent-sender: resent-to:resent-cc:resent-message-id:in-reply-to: references:list-id:list-help:list-unsubscribe: list-subscribe:list-post:list-owner:list-archive; z=From:=20"ppkana2-kana"=20|Subject:=20 We=20are=20unable=20to=20process=20your=20service=20reque st=20-=20MAR=20=20(KMM88740650I96L0KM)=20:ppk1|Date:=20Fr i,=2019=20Dec=202008=2003:45:00=20+0000=20(GMT) |Message-ID:=20<8214762.1229658300050.JavaMail.kanauser@o ma-kaaas-006>|To:=20|MIME-Version: =201.0|Content-Transfer-Encoding:=20quoted-printable; bh=wkrtAHxfELmh5fQCG3rpOa8T9kU1Bk93+yiE3lp7iXc=; b=lCbnd68+Afz5i4EYmgVvv3muekHgl4ee9p3mHZnWsqwvOt2sTdm3MRfM iFjd1c7EyDFCLa0ToRc6C8Tz3r0xdDHlRd09Jw2OK+5T8bIgCizWwb/oK WtjvnNgrZrcSo/xlwOtm5COET+j8bEBph7EL+sK/H3dknLkfN9vF1VRED M=; Received: from oma-entot-001.corp.ebay.com ([10.248.153.164]) by oma-entot-002.corp.ebay.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Thu, 18 Dec 2008 21:46:28 -0600 thread-index: AclhjEisKbCgH8MbRVSLxG5GKuKK+w== Received: from oma-kaaas-006 ([10.248.153.57]) by oma-entot-001.corp.ebay.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Thu, 18 Dec 2008 21:45:49 -0600 Message-ID: <8214762.1229658300050.JavaMail.kanauser@oma-kaaas-006> Date: Fri, 19 Dec 2008 03:45:00 +0000 (GMT) From: "ppkana2-kana" To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message Importance: normal Priority: normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.4325 X-Mailer: KANA Response 9.5.0.31 X-OriginalArrivalTime: 19 Dec 2008 03:45:49.0761 (UTC) FILETIME=[4891F310:01C9618C] Cc: Subject: We are unable to process your service request - MAR (KMM88740650I96L0KM) :ppk1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Evangelism List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 19 Dec 2008 04:12:55 -0000 We want to help you but we're not able to respond directly to emails=20 sent to this address.=20 If you have a question about your account, please contact us through our website. If you haven't already, check out the details at http://www.dcbsdcon.org/. For those registering before February 5, registration is only $75. Registration at the day of the event (if there are any slots left) will increase to $125. Many of you are also following along as we reveal our speakers. Every Monday and Thursday, from now through January, we're releasing details on a new speaker. Just yesterday we announced our 3rd speaker, Chris Buechler of the pfSense project. It's like Christmas or Hannukkah, without the mess! Subscribe to our feed at http://blog.dcbsdcon.org/. Was it for some trademark/legal greedy reason we aren't allowed to use him anymore? Who is allowed to use him now? What does Beastie represent now? The reason why I'm asking is because I want to make a GDM theme that includes Beastie in it. In all the gazillions of years I've been using BSD's, Beastie has represented the true face of Berkeley Unix and it would be a dying shame to see him gone forever!
