X-BeenThere: sfd-discuss@sf-day.org Precedence: list List-Subscribe: , Hi! A slightly off season off topic post, but since it's addressing one of my itches I thought I would share. Richard Hughes has just launched a fully free (as in freedom) colorimeter project where both the hardware schematics, the firmware and the software will be released under a free license. He is looking for pre-orders (50) and ships worldwide. Initial orders will get a 20% discount making the final price at 48 GBP + shipping and packing. Discount assume you'll be contributing to the project by helping out testing the hardware and software and it might be a bit more complicated than just plug-and-play. Full announcement here: http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2011/11/13/introducing-the-colorhug-open-source-colorimeter/ So if like me you've been longing for accurate colors on your screens but didn't want to buy an overprice proprietary device that didn't even have free drivers for your OS of choice, then it is the time to step up. Thanks. Fred ps: I am not involved in the project at all, so please direct your questions to Richard directly if you have any. _______________________________________________ SFD-discuss mailing list SFD-discuss@sf-day.org http://mail.sf-day.org/lists/listinfo/sfd-discuss ------- End of Forwarded Message From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Nov 15 18:17:33 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3B972106566B; Tue, 15 Nov 2011 18:17:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from schiro@hp.com) Received: from g5t0006.atlanta.hp.com (g5t0006.atlanta.hp.com [15.192.0.43]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F386C8FC0C; Tue, 15 Nov 2011 18:17:32 +0000 (UTC) Received: from G2W1953G.americas.hpqcorp.net (gvt0525.austin.hp.com [16.238.8.185]) (using TLSv1 with cipher AES128-SHA (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by g5t0006.atlanta.hp.com (Postfix) with ESMTPS id C88E6C0B7; Tue, 15 Nov 2011 17:58:13 +0000 (UTC) Received: from G4W3008G.americas.hpqcorp.net (16.234.25.124) by G2W1953G.americas.hpqcorp.net (16.238.8.185) with Microsoft SMTP Server (TLS) id 14.1.289.1; Tue, 15 Nov 2011 17:57:18 +0000 Received: from G4W3209.americas.hpqcorp.net ([169.254.5.206]) by G4W3008G.americas.hpqcorp.net ([16.234.25.124]) with mapi id 14.01.0289.001; Tue, 15 Nov 2011 17:57:18 +0000 From: "Schiro, Paul (LeftHand Networks)" To: "freebsd-drivers@freebsd.org" , "freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org" Thread-Topic: HP NC550 Thread-Index: AcyjwCuccROlTgdDThucxLIVwMYPFQ== Date: Tue, 15 Nov 2011 17:57:17 +0000 Message-ID: Accept-Language: en-US Content-Language: en-US X-MS-Has-Attach: X-MS-TNEF-Correlator: x-originating-ip: [16.216.12.11] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: Subject: HP NC550 X-BeenThere: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: General discussion of FreeBSD hardware List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 15 Nov 2011 18:17:33 -0000 Hi all. Then, I started the application (the service is still down since my first post in this thread) and many messages showed in dmesg and /var/log/messages. Tha app didn't work, so I opened one terminal with tail -f /var/log/messages and from another terminal tried to connect to the modem with cu -l /dev/cuaU0 -s 115200.
