[y/N]: y [1/3] Fetching nettle-3.4.1.txz: 100%=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 1 MiB=C2=A0=C2=A0= 1.2MB/s=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 00:01 [2/3] Fetching mDNSResponder-878.200.35.txz: 100%=C2=A0 389 KiB 398.0kB/s= =C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 00:01=C2=A0=C2=A0 [3/3] Fetching dovecot-2.3.4_3.txz:=C2=A0=C2=A0 0%=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 8 Ki= B=C2=A0=C2=A0 8.2kB/s 01:29:36 ETA^C And there it sits. An "svn checkout" or "svn update" will hang, eventually failing.=C2=A0 Be= fore it fails it runs /very /slowly. If I "ifconfig .... inet6 ifdisabled" on the pulling source and force the IPv4 connection to be used instead everything works at normal speed. It's not consistent, however, across all sites.=C2=A0 I have a fairly lar= ge database at a Colo in NY and run ~30gb copies from there to here over ssh -6 on a regular basis as part of my backup strategy.=C2=A0 They work = fine and produce throughput numbers right near my wire speed (50Mbps) running over the space of an hour or more.=C2=A0 But attempts to grab material quantities of anything from the project's machines over IPv6 run into this performance issue consistently and make a full svn checkout essentially impossible. The architecture here looks like this: ------ -- Internet (Cox Cable) Both are AMD64; the firewall is a PCEngines apu2c0, the server is a large dual-Xeon machine. Enabling verbose logging on the firewall and looking in the logs shows nothing that could be at-issue and neither box has any issues I can find with the network card or performance itself (e.g. no interface errors, the switch they're plugged into doesn't have anything interesting in terms of throttling, packet drops, mbufs are fine, etc.) and nothing has been changed in terms of software on either box related to the kernel or similar since, as you can see, quite some time ago (early 2018 for the server, mid 2017 for the firewall.) The issue itself was a "step function" change that I can peg at roughly the start of November; prior to that there's been no issue at all and I regularly keep my local repo up to date for code since I cross-build for the Pi series regularly, including stuff that was on -HEAD until 12-RELEASE came out.=C2=A0 I get my IPv6 from Cox as a /60 using DHCP6c a= nd use SLAAC internally (which also appears to be working fine; it hasn't had any changes made to it either.) My /suspicion /is that Cox has screwed the pooch somewhere internally when it comes to IPv6 routing.=C2=A0 When it comes up on a specific connection the data rate doesn't immediately go to zero; it instead drops to /very /slow transfers, frequently right around 8kbps, where it stays until there's an eventual timeout -- or the initiation of the next file transfer times out with a "no response" complaint. Since I can't find evidence of a FreeBSD problem internally this is more of a "is anyone else seeing this on Cox?" sort of request; what I find especially interesting, however, is that it /always /happens when talking to Project machines for updates whether for packages or SVN, which is why I'm bringing it here. --=20 Karl Denninger karl@denninger.net /The Market Ticker/ /[S/MIME encrypted I'm not on cox, but i do daily svn's from host svnmir.nyi.freebsd.org. (2610:1c1:1:606c::e6a:0) to my colo in NJ. I've seen no problems (indeed, a just did a manual checkout and confirmed it was on ip6) The thing is, you don't say which of the geo-servers you are connecting to.. I'd humbly suggest creating a temporary ip6-4 tunnel from https://tunnelbroker.net/ - they have POPs in Miami and New York, amongst other places. That would at least help you test the non-cox ip6 side of things, especially if you can get a 6-4 server close to you. cheers, jamie From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Mon Dec 10 12:15:55 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4E5B313240EE for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D5DC975F76 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:54 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 96B7113240ED; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:54 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 740EF13240EC for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:54 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 111F475F6C for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:54 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 405FEB3FD for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:53 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id wBACFrRL014243 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:53 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id wBACFr8J014234 for net@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:53 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 210726] tcp connect() can return invalid EADDRINUSE Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:52 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: aler@playground.ru X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: bz@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: D5DC975F76 X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-2.97 / 15.00]; local_wl_from(0.00)[freebsd.org]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-0.999,0]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.98)[-0.976,0]; ASN(0.00)[asn:10310, ipnet:2001:1900:2254::/48, country:US]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-0.99)[-0.994,0] X-Rspamd-Server: mx1.freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2018 12:15:55 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D210726 --- Comment #16 from aler@playground.ru --- (In reply to Bjoern A. Already busy port can = be anywhere outside that jail, so it may be in other jail on in host system. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Mon Dec 10 14:05:21 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 361481327004 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BB7D07A0F8 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 7F80B1327002; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:20 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6DF3C1327000 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 0B3B47A0F1 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 39130C498 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id wBAE5JRN018853 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:19 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id wBAE5JVW018852 for net@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:19 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 233759] igb (I210) + net.inet.ipsec.async_crypto=1 + aesni kill receiving queues and traffic Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:18 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: IntelNetworking X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: sbruno@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: net@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: cc Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: BB7D07A0F8 X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-2.98 / 15.00]; local_wl_from(0.00)[freebsd.org]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-0.999,0]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.98)[-0.983,0]; ASN(0.00)[asn:10310, ipnet:2001:1900:2254::/48, country:US]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-0.99)[-0.993,0] X-Rspamd-Server: mx1.freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2018 14:05:21 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D233759 Sean Bruno changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |ae@FreeBSD.org, | |gnn@FreeBSD.org --- Comment #7 from Sean Bruno --- Adding gnn@ and ae@. Is support of RFC 5549 possible in Freebsd? Hi, I have thought a bit about this, and have some ideas how implement this. In general we can install into the kernel routes that has IPv6 address as gateway for IPv4 (currently this is not allowed by default, but it is easy to allow). So, as a routing daemon developer you can use generic API to install routes where RTAX_GATEWAY is IPv6 address. Then we need to modify ip_forward, ip_output, ip_tryforward to correctly handle such routes. layer2 output routines should already correctly handle IPv4 packets that are going trough the IPv6 gateway and it will use ND6 lookup code to obtain Layer2 addresses. The most complex it seems will the modification of ip_tryforward code, since it is optimized for IPv4 and doesn't have enough room for extending. With such changes IPv6 only router should be able to do IPv4 forwarding. The problems that come to mind are inability to correctly send ICMP messages, since there are no IPv4 addresses that can be used as IPv4 source, and how existing programs will handle such routes when they will appear in a routing socket. --=20 WBR, Andrey V. I had a query regarding the altq subsystem of the freebsd kernel code. Is it advisable to use callout calls in altq code which in turn works with pf? I'm working on implementing ADAPTIVE-RED altq for freebsd, if that helps. Thanks in advance for any help! I run multiple routers using FreeBSD 11.2-STABLE/amd64 r336962, ipfw+dummyn= et and net/mpd5 daemon that dynamically creates/destroys ngXXX interfaces for multiple PPPoE clients. If an interface ngXXX is destroyed while dummynet pipe/queue keeps mbuf with m_pkthdr.rcvif pointing to freed struct ifnet, kernel panices when taskqueue runs dummynet_task/dummynet_send/netisr_dispatch_src/ip_input sequence and I have crashdump. kgdb session follows: Script started on Sat Dec 15 06:47:49 2018 Command: kgdb kernel.debug /home/nanobsd/pppoe/crash/vmcore.0 GNU gdb 6.1.1 [FreeBSD] Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. But often queues get stuck and freezes. Hmm.. I just noticed that it was IP= v6 that stopped working when I tried to enable it on a production server and r= an iperf3 on it - IPv4 traffic was still passing thru.=20 Can it be that there still are IPv6 (TSO6)-related bugs and that the IPv4 o= nes are solved? Too bad I can't find a way to force it to happen on the test servers... --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.=
