The first is a 3Com 3c905B-TX and works fine. The second is a Digital 21040 Ethernet (DE435). It doesn't work fine. I can ping myself and nothing else on the de0 lan. Here is my ifconfig for both: de0: flags=8c43 mtu 1500 inet 172.16.10.254 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.10.255 ether 08:00:2b:e6:51:42 media: 10baseT/UTP status: active supported media: autoselect 10base5/AUI manual 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP xl0: flags=8843 mtu 1500 inet 142.182.193.159 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 142.182.193.255 ether 00:10:5a:ac:11:82 media: 10baseT/UTP supported media: autoselect 100baseTX 100baseTX 100baseTX 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP 10baseT/UTP The one thing that sticks out the most is the OACTIVE on the de0 interface.
