Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Greetings! I'm having a very frustrating problem involving some seemingly random kernel panics. Every couple of days, around 3:30 in the morning when periodic:daily is in to some hot and heavy disk activity, the kernel issues a "ffs_clusteralloc: map mismatch" message and the machine reboots. I have rebuilt the kernel, run fsck several times, checked the bios settings, and can't figure out what to do next. Any insight is much appreciated - it's a high production system and we just can't have it rebooting! Possibly related: in each crash, the /var/log/messages file has a large 4-5 hour gap in it preceeding the crash, where it appears that syslogd isn't writing out its activity. The problem appears to be very similar to GNATS PR 16740: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=16740 which looks unresolved. --------------------------------------------------- # uname -a FreeBSD nollie.summersault.com 3.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE #0: Sun Jul 16 20:30:08 EST 2000 root@nollie.summersault.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/NOLLIE.071600 i386 --------------------------------------------------- bash-2.03# gdb -k ...
