Huh? First of all, it's /kernel ^ not sure if that's a typo or what. Second, why are you or your setup trying to mount usr on /mnt? If you have a valid label somewhere, mount and check it. btw, pay attention to error messages, they are usually valid. You may have a disk slice crammed full.
