My sound is using the snd_via8233.ko loaded from the loader.conf which also loads sound.ko. The pciconf -lv shows: pcm0@pci0:17:5: class=0x040100 card=0xa1011019 chip=0x30591106 rev=0x50 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'VIA Technologies Inc' device = 'VT8233/33A/8235/8237 AC97 Enhanced Audio Controller' class = multimedia subclass = audio I've tried disabling acpi with no change. I'm runing kdm and it starts at the end of the load cycle. I have no idea if the problem is the OS or KDE. Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions? Thanks, ed P.S. For the time being I'm just not going to load the driver. Unfortunately, I've got several of these motherboards and they all have the same problem.
