Yup, did that as that's what the manual said to do for Win95 usage (kind of annoying). > > I'm about ready to wipe and load Win95 (but it won't stay long! :-) > > just so I can test the darn player to make sure the drive isn't toast. > > Ahh, you haven't initialized it under Win95? Maybe the Win95 driver did something to the card/CD player to > make it work fine, but it was required for my So y CD650. Hmmm, this sort of jibes with what I was putting down to flakey memory. I did run it on Win95 to check out the machine, the card, etc - get a baseline of how things work the way the vendor's most expected. I then installed (at the time) PAO w/ 2.2.5 and I would have sworn I did it via the CD! (I was transitioning jobs and setting up 4 different systems and I'm just not sure). Then I didn't use the drive for about 3 weeks and wham-o, the mail you've seen from me thus far. I wanted to repartition the machine and make a small partition for Win95 or whatever OS du jure I might want to play with (2-gig drive). Now I am doubly motivated. Thanks a bunch for your help! K^2 PS. What's the procedure for submitting working new pccard.conf entries? I have a working LinkSys entry that was on PAO's "Send me mail if this works..." list and not in the 2.2.5-STABLE pccard.conf. -- Ken Key (key@cs.utk.edu) Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville
