I now have a fully functional freeBSD system running XF86. I can't believe how much software I got with the system, infinite value for money. it has been a very beneficial learning experience and with the assistance of my operating systems text books I am now getting some seriously useful knowledge. Who knows when I have learned enough, I may even have some contributions to make. So to aid in your data base of successful installations here is the system spec: Dell XGM5166 box, P166 processor Adaptec 2940 pci card with seagate ST41650N 1.3Gb SCSI disk Quantum Fireball 2.1Gb IDE NEC floppy 3Com Etherlink III (on Board) Phoenix BIOS Phoenix S3Trio64V+ graphics card (on board) SoundBlaster AWE64 BSD resides on the SCSI drive ID2 (not 0) and boot sequence is Primary IDE, on which the first bootmanager lives along with Windows 95 (the one that works!). Then a second boot manage on the SCSI which controls the start-up of BSD. Once again a big thank you to all of the contributors to the freeBSD project. Best regards to one and all !
