Actually, I kind of like it this way now. :-) Remember, the original (and the only, to be honest) reason that ee came in was that it was a small editor which displayed its keybindings on the screen so that someone totally unfamiliar with it could still use it. Now that it's been made to use emacs keybindings by default, this is an improvement since the new user will learn a command set which is actually compatible with other things (like bash or emacs) instead of wasting time learning ee's completely unique command set instead (well, I guess it looks a little like wordstar ;). Those who actually liked the old format can still have $HOME/.init.ee files which override the new default and the rest of our user population can get an easy introduction to a set of bindings that are used by everything from shells to Motif text widgets.
