[Probably] your certificate key has a passphrase. You can create a copy of the key without a passphrase with this command (it'll ask for the passphrase): openssl rsa -in file1.key -out file2.key Then change your apache configuration to reference the new non-passphrase version of the key. BUT, keep in mind that there's no longer anything other than access control's keeping people from stealing that key! g.
