Well, I was completely shocked to find out that 'emacs' is not a virtual category. This is clearly just a bug and needs to be fixed. This is especially more shocking since 'elisp', which should be a strict subset, is a virtual category: http://www.FreeBSD.org/ports/elisp.html Related note: as of a few hours ago, I've taken a first whack at what I feel is another part of this overall problem. The main ports web page at http://www.FreeBSD.org/ports/ has always just presented the links to the various ports categories alphabetically in one huge list. IMHO that's just simply unreadable. What I've done now (with Edwin Groothius' help to do the actual implementation) is split them up by logical groups. While completely inadequate for 'true' browsing it is at least one piece of the puzzle. Adding 'emacs' and 'eclipse' virtual categories is something further that we could do quickly, for a fairly low cost, and get an immediate benefit from. mcl
