But when I try any disklabel operations, it says "Operation not permitted". This is with 4.1-S as of yesterday afternoon. Here is the pertinent info from dmesg: twed0: <3ware RAID unit> on twe0 twed0: 117797MB (241248384 sectors) twed1: <3ware RAID unit> on twe0 twed1: 39265MB (80416192 sectors) Mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0s1a twed0 is the RAID array twed1 is actually the hot spare Here is some commands and their output: # mount /dev/ad0s1a on / (ufs, local) /dev/ad0s1e on /usr (ufs, local, soft-updates) procfs on /proc (procfs, local) # dd if=3D/dev/zero of=3D/dev/twed0 bs=3D1k count=3D1 dd: /dev/twed0: Operation not permitted # disklabel -Brw twed0 auto disklabel: /dev/twed0c: Operation not permitted # disklabel -e twed0 disklabel: /dev/twed0c: Operation not permitted I've tried lots of different combinations of the disklabel command, and they all result in Operation not permitted. # fdisk twed0 ******* Working on device /dev/twed0 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=3D15017 heads=3D255 sectors/track=3D63 (16065 blks/cyl) =46igures below won't work with BIOS for partitions not in cyl 1 parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=3D15017 heads=3D255 sectors/track=3D63 (16065 blks/cyl) fdisk: invalid fdisk partition table found Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: The data for partition 2 is: The data for partition 3 is: The data for partition 4 is: sysid 165,(FreeBSD/NetBSD/386BSD) start 63, size 241248042 (117796 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 0/ sector 1/ head 1; end: cyl 680/ sector 63/ head 254 If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, or what's wrong with this setup, I could _really_ use the help.
