Configuration is the area where Unices differ most. FreeBSD is a BSD, of course, whereas Solaris (>=2) is a SystemV. With SystemV, you configure the bootup stuff by putting files and symlinks in /etc/init.d/ and /etc/rc?.d/; with BSD there is a configuration file /etc/rc.conf and a few scripts /etc/rc*. kai -- I like _b_o_t_h kinds of music.
