I have rebooted it from the 2.2.1 floppy and the SCSI shows up ok. I = have down loaded a copy of boot.flp from ftp.freebsd.org and had the = same results. I also downloaded a copy of boot.flp for 2.2.8 to try it. = The 2.2.8 boot floppy also found the 1542 controller.
