Ok, here is the original message I posted to freebsd-questions.

Hi all,
        I've been trying for some time now to get FreeBSD 4.0 to talk to 
some Wavelan 11M Turbo Gold cards I have, which are in the ISA adaptors
on a Dell Dimention XPS P166s.  When I boot the machine, neither the
pccard controller nor the wi device show on the boot messages.  Not even
a "device wi0 not found".

I tried putting the if_wi_enable="YES" into the loader.conf, but that
didn't help.

I have also patched the wi device to use ALTQ, however this problem
occured before the patch.

GENERIC also fails to see either the wi or the pccard devices.

I'm including the boot messages and kernel config below.  Thanks.
