You need to route your mail through your ISP. You don't have a legal dns entry for your proxy server and your email will be rejected. Your networking names also have to match. I just went through this problem with my ISP. My DSL address is a dynacom.net but my email address is a urx.com. The mail sever at hub.FreeBSD would query my ISP and it would spit out a message about HELO and the missmatch. I sent my ISP an email containing the error messages and they fixed their mail server. A look at my header's will show a "Received from: urx.com(..." and that change made it work. Until then, I was doing what you are doing. I had to send my email through my old ISP. Fortunately my new ISP fixed the problem just as my old ISP found out that I could relay through them. I can still bring up my dial up but who would want to when you have DSL :).
