However, what you could do is have a DEVELOPMENT toggle much like NO_PORTS, etc. in make.conf. You could then teach make.conf to set default values of many variables based on the bigger main knob. > If we agree on one big handle, what should the name be ? Umm, SYSTEM_FOCUS perhaps? I assume this would go in /etc/defaults/make.conf?
