If you are feeling adventurous (not in the sense of writing anything there yet), you could `walk' the directory structure manually so as to find out if it's still there. Just mask out the inode numbers, use this # hd /dev/ad2s1e | grep -A 5 ".. .. .. .. 0c 00 04 01 2e 00 00 00 .. .. .. .." and be ready to read a huge amount of hexdump:).
