But there are remaining difficulties. The console hangs on boot just after mounting root, even without the Sony CD51 PCMCIA ATA CDROM, unless I use hw.pcic.intr_path=1. During boot, intr_path=2 complains of not being able to route PCI interrupts for INTA for the machine's two pcics. What's odd here (intr_path=2) is that the machine seems to boot fully--the disk activity suggests as much, and if I Ctrl-Alt-Del after the console has ceased responding, about 50% of the time the display suddenly changes all at once to show the (previously generated) messages in accordance with a successful boot, followed by a few of the shutdown messages. The built-in WaveLAN probes perfectly, but no matter which IRQ I use (have tried every single one), the device gives "wi0: watchdog timeout"s. ifconfig reveals that the card is binding successfully to my AP, but I can't transmit anything successfully without a watchdog timeout, nor can I receive anything with tcpdump on the wi0 interface. I enclose a verbose dmesg from a boot with hw.pcic.intr_path=1 below. Any ideas on how I might get my built-in WaveLAN to work, anyone? Warner: would it be helpful for me to manually type out a copy of a verbose dmesg (with boot -p -v) for what I see when hw.pcic.intr_path=2, before the console stops responding? Also, if I use the recent changes to /sys/pccard in -STABLE, things get a bit worse: with -STABLE as of this morning, even when booting with hw.pcic.intr_path=1, pccardd sees null device ID strings in the built-in wi device's CIS tuples. I wonder if getting the second pcic (a TI part) to work with PCI interrupts, rather than ISA, may be the key to making the built-in WaveLAN (which sits behind it) to work. Under WinXP, the TI part is IRQ 9, and so is the WaveLAN card. (...along with other PCI devices also on IRQ 9...) Any suggestions most appreciated! -Brad, bkarp@icsi.berkeley.edu --==_Exmh_11071398260 Content-Type: text/plain ; name="katje.dmesg"; charset=us-ascii Content-Description: katje.dmesg Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="katje.dmesg" Copyright (c) 1992-2002 The FreeBSD Project.
