My original message included the probe messages from pccardd as well. I commented on sio1 because I had it in the kernel config file; IIRC this used to be necessary in order for the device to be found. I've removed the sio1 definition now (sio0 remains, corresponding to a hard-wired port on the laptop). I now get: sio0: gdb debugging port (hmmm. I thought I should have got more than that) ... pccard: card inserted, slot 0 pccard: card inserted, slot 1 ep0: <3Com Etherlink III 3C589> at port 0x240-0x24f irq 9 slot 0 on pccard0 ep0: Ethernet address 00:60:97:40:fb:e1 sio1 at port 0x2e8-0x2ef irq 5 slot 1 on pccard0 sio1: type 16550A I need to check why I'm not getting irq 3 for the port, but everything else looks OK.
