The only thing that almost-but-not-quite works is sound. It had worked fine on 4.6-stable, the previous version installed on this unit. Both kldloading snd_driver and adding pcm to the kernel have been tried, both with and without adding the ISA device hints: hint.pcm.0.at="isa" hint.pcm.0.irq="5" hint.pcm.0.drq="1" hint.pcm.0.flags="0x0" to both /boot/device.hints and the kernel .hints file. Either combination results in the same thing. The sound driver loads, but doesn't produce any sound. Using mixer to change volume, even CD volume, doesn't result in any audible sound from playing a CD. Note the device_probe_and_attach: pcm0 attach returned 6 errors in the dmesg that follows. The other thing that looks a little weird is the flags; it comes back with 0xc100. Maybe that's a 5.x thing. The BIOS is ACPI. If there's a way to disable ACPI, it's not obvious. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks. ----- Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
