One simm > first then the other and so on. Pardon me, I've just joined this list and have seen nothing previous to this in this thread. I have a 486DX that takes 72-pin SIMMs. One at a time is fine. OTOH I had one that took 30-pin SIMMS. That indeed required two at a time. I don't know the answer, but this sure doesn't sound like it.
