But I installed FreeBSD (4.2-RELEASE) => on router when I had only one card (DEC chipset) on it. Now I want => to install second adapter - Genius PCI GE2500 (based on Realtek 8029 => chipset). Can somebody tell me EXACTLY what steps I must do to make => it all OK? I am VERY new in FreeBSD and UNIX. => Thanks in advance. If you're sure you've ascertained that the card is supported by FreeBSD then it is easy. Just powerdown, plugin the card and power up. See in the kernel config file that device rl is enabled, if not enable and recompile. Then go to /etc/rc.conf and add the line For whatever name the systems detects it as, ifconfig_[device name]="inet x.x.x.x netmask 1.2.3.4" That should be all. In Germany, they first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me -- and by that time there was nobody left to speak up. -Pastor Marton Niemoller To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
