You say my natd.conf looked fine. You mean you can't: # telnet $PRIVATE_IP 8080 From your BSD machine? That leaves only 2 possible problems: 1) The program isn't listening on port 8080 tcp on your $PRIVATE_IP (Use netstat -an on that machine to verify) 2) The firewall is blocking the packets. I still haven't seen the output of ipfw -a l yet so I can't be sure. Packets don't always act the way you think they do when nat is in the picture.
