The machine you are connecting to is trying to perform a reverse lookup on the IP address of the one asking to connect to it. The right solution is to fix the DNS problem, so that name lookups complete quickly (or at least give up quickly). Search this mailing list archive for "DNS problem" and you'll find a number of threads in the recent past that explain just how to fix it. By the way, if your primary DNS nameserver is on the other side of a dialup, like mine is, you'll often see problems like this where it's just S-L-O-W.
