I want to put FreeBSD on disk 1, which is a 6.4 G WD Caviar with multiple partitions. I ran the install from a boot floppy and went into the partition editor where it found four MS-DOS partitions, labeled as NTFS and one extended. Under NT there are really 3 NTFS partitions before the extended partition begins as the fourth, and within it are two more NTFS partitions and two FAT partitions as well as 1 G of unused space. The final FAT partition is 998m and is where I would like to place FreeBSD. Here are my questions: Am I supposed to delete the extended partition, reconfigure this somehow, and preserve the data it contains to retain access, still, from NT? Do I have to use FIPS to designate a small area in the MBR to place the boot manager? Generally, how can I get FreeBSD in a slice I already created as a FAT partition in the extended partition? Second question: Does anyone know if FreeBSD supports an ATAPI CD-ROM changer? This one is an OEM made by NEC.
