However, i think you are wrong. TYPE 6 is unused space and it always left in the beginning (63 sectors) if you choose to make a tru 'dos partition' entry instead of dangerously dedicated freebsd disk. Any way, i think i was right in the first place - you got some weird peice of hardware,which was tolerable before freebsd4.2.
