Are you talking about 2.2-0801 SNAP installation? I don't know if this
is in  the same vein but I had a similar `I'm dead' when trying to NFS mount
my server in the local network. Since it was local I didn't specify
a gateway or nameserver. I was told that this would be the problem
(due to a yet to locate bug) and I had to define the nameserver, domain and
gateway.
