Is 16 colour the default in X4? I noticed a problem today when I was trying to setup a new machine. I ran xf86cfg and saved the changes. I tried xdm but it failed, so I tried startx and that worked. I was confused :) I initially thought that I had DNS problems (had some earlier) but it turned out that if I edited the config file to change the default colour depth to 24 bit it worked fine. This seems a little silly, ie that the default config doesn't work with xdm :( -- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software - http://www.gsoft.com.au "The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from." -- Andrew Tanenbaum GPG Fingerprint - 9A8C 569F 685A D928 5140 AE4B 319B 41F4 5D17 FDD5 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
