Still no good. I used your file almost verbatim. I removed the generics stuff, since I don't have a need for address modification, and I used OSTYPE(freebsd4) instead. Then of course I adjusted the server specific domains, etc. I think Neil may have hit it when he suggested sendmail was having a problem executing something ele - like deliver or procmail. However, I have installed both those processes as suid user and group. I don't know what else it could be and there are no indications in the logs. Right now, the machine in question is behind my current box - which is masquerading everything to the cable modem. Simply swapping the cables to put the FreeBSD machine up front wouldn't do, since the nic in the Linux box is provisioned and will have to be cannibalized when the swap is made. If I get desperate enough, maybe I will shut it down and borrow the nic. There should be no trouble with the smtp connection, since I do have a windoze box running netscape directly to the ISP smtp server. What about postfix? How does it compare in terms of configurability, security, dependability, and functionality? (all these 'itys). Thanks all.
