I have spoken to Compuserve Technical Support again ... and there response is just the same namely "We only support PPP through our own software ...". I am firmly of the opinion that the PPP run by Compuserve is sufficiently non-standard that further efforts to connect are not worth the effort. I have notified Compuserve of my intention to terminate the agreement and seek an ISP who is capable of meeting my requirements. I am adding this to "Freebsd-questions" to serve as a warning to others who may be using Compuserve. Malcolm G. Boff Sylmex Ltd.
