Why make life so difficult ;-) ?

If I were you, and I had the ability to boot to floppy (kern.flp and
mfsroot.flp), and I was on broadband (DSL or cable modem or whatever), I
would simply take advantage of the /stand/sysinstall interface to upgrade
the OS!

That reminds me, thanks for your post because I'm *on* 4.5 (upped from 4.3
a few months ago), and just noticed at the freebsd.org homepage that
4.6-RELEASE is out - cheers and best of luck my friend.
