But in the future I would like to see more like a 72 hour advance notice of changes like this. (That's our rule of thumb within the core team.) I personally would have asked you to hold off just a bit if I had had the chance. Also, I would have liked to have heard Peter's opinion on it first, since he's sort of the de facto keeper of the libc version numbers. I don't so much question that it had to be done; I just would have liked an opportunity for myself and others to influence the timing of it. The thing that's special about a library version number bump is that it's (a) irreversible, and (b) only allowed once per release cycle.
