Vinum is a possible solution, but a bit of overkill. What you might try is creating two 4 disk RAID5 arrays, and striping them with the ccd driver. You'll wind up effectively with a RAID 0/5 array, and the ccd driver is pretty thin and fast. Hope this helps!
