Just do the configuration again on reboot and build a custom kernel: cd /sys/i386/conf cp GENERIC MYKERNEL vi MYKERNEL config MYKERNEL cd ../../comple/MYKERNEL make depend ; make ; make install ; reboot Be sure to throw out all the network card drivers you don't need, i. e. all but ed0.
