I did not say he was a good person, I did not say you had to admire him for anything, heck, I didn't even say he wouldn't be better if he was more like me. [The above paragraph is not meant to imply _any_ characteristics (good or bad) to rms other than that he has "merits".] [For those who really don't believe he has any merits at all... everyone else can just hit 'd' now] When the ncurses developers got in a really nasty fight, it was him who succesfully intervened. You can thank him that the developers have now agreed to put ncurses under (old) X11-style license instead of starting all over from scratch (which was dangerously close to happening). I understand he has had some involvement with the development of emacs... As a lobbyist, he has probably had more success than you have. The fact is that some of the software you are using (like, oh say the C compiler) has been funded partially from money and/or code he had a big part in wrangling out of other companies. > DES (who used to kinda admire him, until I started actually reading > what he writes about varying subjects) -- Tim Vanderhoek (who just knew *somebody* was going to say something) To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
